Tentative Itinerary:
Day 1 Pick up from Guwahati airport and drive to Shillong.
On the first day of this trip, you will arrive at Guwahati airport or railway station from where you will be driven to Shillong. On way, you will notice the magnificent Rolling hills and Verdant valleys welcoming you. You will stop by the famous Umiam Lake to get enthralled by the beatific surroundings. After checking-in your hotel and refreshment, you will visit Police Bazar. The rest of the evening is for your relaxation and unwinding at the hotel.
Day 2 Shillong City Tour
The gorgeous city offers amazing tourist spots. The city’s own Ward’s Lake is popular for short garden walks & boating. Lady Hydari Park is a Japanese style landscaped park endowed with stretches of roses & exquisite flowers. The Mini zoo adjacent to the park has several birds & mammals. One of the largest Golf courses in Asia is an 18 hole Golf Course is charted amidst a surging valley full of thick pine groves & rhododendron trees. The ‘Gleneagles of the East’ lies in the centre of a plateau surrounded by Khasi hills. The State Museum & Don Bosco Museum offer insights into the lifestyle and heritage of the people of Meghalaya and the Northeast of India. Evening free for leisure. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Day 3 Shillong to Cherrapunji
After breakfast in the morning, we will proceed to Cherrapunji 56 Km, En-route visit elephant falls, shillong peak later the wettest place on the earth. Enjoy a pleasant drive to see roaring waterfalls leaping into deep gorges, including the famed Nohsngithiang falls. The lovely town is also famous for its limetone caves & Orange honey. Watch the Dain-Thlen falls, Noh-Kalikai Falls, NohSngithiang Falls & also drive to the Mawsmai Cave, Thangkharang Park and the Living root bridge. Later, return back to your hotel in Cherrapunjee, overnight stay.
Day 4 Mawlynnong, Dawki – shillong
Next morning after breakfast, you will be taken to Mawlynnlong. Mawlynnlong is known for being the cleanest village in Asia and also it has a living root bridge. These bridges are unique formations built by the secondary roots of the rubber trees. The local people net the roots with each other to form a rope way like structure which after about 100 years becomes strong enough to be used as a bridge to cross the hilly streams. After the sightseeing you will be on your way to Dawki, which has the clearest river water in Asia. Dawki is located on the border between India and Bangladesh. It is really hard to ignore the crystal clear water of the Umngot River. Boat ride in this pristine river is a major tourist attraction. After Dawki you will be on your way back to Shillong to the hotel. Overnight stay in Shillong.
Day 5 Shillong to Guwahati Local & Airport Drop
After breakfast, reaching Guwahati we can take you out on sightseeing of Guwahati city as per timing. The notable places to check out in and enjoy in Guwahati are Kamakhya temple, Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Balaji temple. After sightseeing, the tour will end and you will be driven to Guwahati airport from where you will continue your journey.
